Distribution of Ticadaie eco-friendly stoves and briquettes
BRANA encourages environmental protection
Port-au-Prince, Haiti, December 23, 2014
The BRANA Foundation informs the public that, as part of its efforts to protect the environment, it is donating a stove and a bag of eco-friendly briquettes to each employee of Brasserie Nationale d'Haïti SA (National Brewery of Haiti SA) this Tuesday, December 23, 2014 , for the holiday season. This donation is being made in partnership with Ticadaie SA, a company that manufactures its products locally.
The BRANA Foundation is an entity of Brana that was established in 2012 to support the improvement of life within the Haitian community. It operates in four main areas: education, responsible consumption, alternative energy, and the environment.
During this event, Ticadaie Vice-President Alix Villedrouin stated: “To address our serious deforestation problem in Haiti, in 2011 Ticadaie decided to provide an immediate alternative. Our stoves and briquettes have a positive economic, ecological, and health impact on the daily lives of all users.”
Briquettes are indeed an alternative to charcoal that meets the demand for cooking energy while respecting environmental standards. The improved stove reduces household cooking energy consumption by at least 30% compared to traditional stoves, and it also utilizes green charcoal made from recycled materials. By combining the improved stove with eco-friendly briquettes, nearly 2 million trees will be protected annually in Haiti.
With its 1,200 employees, the BRANA Foundation has decided to engage all members of the BRANA team in promoting good daily habits to protect our environment. The BRANA Foundation thanks the press for its support and wishes you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year 2015.
